Important Information About Using HTTPS to Retrieve Library and Patch Updates

This patch lets you choose either FTP or HTTPS on your R3000 in order to connect to 8e6 Technologies update servers. Currently your R3000 uses FTP to connect to 8e6 Technologies update servers at update.8e6.net. After this patch is applied, if the non-default HTTPS option is selected for downloading library and patch updates, the R3000 will use HTTPS over port 443 to connect to update servers at https://secureupdate.8e6.com. In some networks, it may be necessary to change rules for the firewall or in the router to allow the R3000 to connect to the update servers over HTTPS.

8e6 recommends that you perform a library update after applying this patch to ensure that your R3000 is connecting to the update servers. To check the status of a library download, navigate the GUI of the R3000 to access the Library Update Log (LIBRARY -> Updates -> Library Update Log), and click the View Log button to view the contents of the log. A successfully updated library will display a message in the log showing today's date and a recent time, followed by text specifying that the update has completed.
